NC govt pushing valley into darkness: PDP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Dec 9 : Condemning the erratic power supply in the state, Peoples Democratic Party District Srinagar President and MLC Mohammad Ashraf Mir today accused the government of pushing the state and Srinagar in particular into darkness and creating a crisis like situation across the valley. Addressing the party workers meeting at party office here Mir said that instead of ensuring un-interrupted power supply the government is interested in opening of cinemas and liquor shops. “Even though the government is fleecing 128 percent increase in fees from the consumers, situation of erratic power supply has gone from bad to worse,” he said. Mir said that it was during PDP led coalition that valley for the first time experienced uninterrupted power supply during winter. “If we managed then, why cannot they now. They are deliberately doing it as to punish people for dissenting against the NC led coalition on mis-governance, corruption and unemployment,” he alleged. Mir said that even though state is capable of exporting power, but unfortunately due to anti people policies of NC led government, power is being imported. Referring to the National Hydro-electricity Power Corporation (NHPC), the PDP leader said, the government has “handed over majority of feasible power projects to NHPC without any agreement which clearly shows that NC govt has sacrificed the interests of the state and made a total sell-out be it legislative council seats ministerial berths, water resources or power projects for their own personal luxuries.”
