| 3-day refresher course for adolescent girls held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, DECEMBER 09- A 3-day refresher course under SABLA was organized by CDPO, Gandhinagar in collaboration with Youth Services and Sports Department at Kalka Colony (Bagh-e-Bahu) w.e.f. 8th to 10th December, 2011.
About 60 adolescent girls participated in the refresher course.
The main objective of organizing such refresher course was to empower the adolescent girls in all aspects of today’s life so that they could contribute positively to the overall growth of the society.
Various problems related to adolescent girls were taken up and examined by the Medical Officer of the area. Emphasis was laid on the improvement of personal hygiene and nutritious status of adolescent girls.
The trainees from Youth Services and Sports department dealt in detail regarding importance of being physically and mentally fit. Yoga and other co-curricular activities were also imparted to the girls on the occasion.
Advocate, Mrs. Divya Gupta also interacted with the girls during the refresher course. She discussed domestic violence act, problems of eve teasing etc with the girls.
The department had also involved the NGO-NIIT for imparting training to the girls with regard to Henna application.
