Sham redresses peoples’ problems in public darbar | Panchs to monitor progress of lower level functionaries to improve services | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Akhnoor/ Sunderbani- In an attempt to bring people of rural and far-flung areas closer to government and to address their problems at the doorstep, Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma today held public darbars at several places in Akhnoor and Sunderbani areas. During the first day of his 2-day extensive tour of the hilly belt, the Minister convened public darbars at Choki Chowra, Rah,Salyote, Ghar Salyote, Makda, Salangar and Sunderbani and took stock of the facilities available in these hily and remote areas. The people apprised the Minister about the problems being faced by them in their areas. The problems which were highlighted by people mainly related to health, road connectivity, drinking water, electricity, education and employment. He issued on the spot instructions to the concerned officers to immediately addressed the problems which were raised by the people. Addressing at the various places, the Minister said that the government was committed provide better facilities to the people of rural and far flung areas and several steps in this direction have been initiated. He said during the past three years, the main focus of the government was to upgrade the infrastructure in rural areas. He said health, education, drinking water, road connectivity and electricity were the basic facilities and it is primary duty of the government to ensure these for all. The has chalked out a strategy to create sustainable assets in the rural areas, adding that during the next three years all the hamlets will be connected with road link. In order to improve services at the grass route level, the Minister said that the panchayat functionaries have been made responsible to monitor the progress of all service providing department in their areas. They will certify attendance of the lower level functionaries before the disbursement of their monthly salaries. The Minister directed the Tehsil Administration to open special service counter of various departments at Chowki Chowra for the facilities of the far flung areas. He issued specific instruction to PDD to make arrangement for revenue collection in these areas. Regarding the demand of upgradation of school, he assured that all such demands would be examine on priory and norms and all areas will get fair treatment. The Minister also inspected emergency hospital Choki Chowra, SDH Sunderbani and several on-going development works in the area. He directed the officers to ensure quality of work and timely completion of projects. He also directed Heads of Institution to improve work in the hospital and provide best services to the patients. The team of senior officers of various departments thast accompanied the Minister, Controller Drugs and Food Control Organization, Mr. Satish Gupta, Director Health, Dr. Madhu Khular, Director Family Welfare, Dr. T.K. Moza, Director Flouriculture, Mr. K.K. Sharma, Director Horticulture, Mr. J.N. Sharma, SDM Akhnoor, Ms Sushama Chauhan, CMO Jammu, Dr. Baldev Sharma and sect oral officer.
