| Fai’s Indian links need to be probed thoroughly: Prof Chaman | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 9: Terming the reported confessional statement of Gulam Nabi Fai of being an operator of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI at the international level as a significant development, MLA Prof Chaman Lal Gupta stressed the need for deep probing by Indian authorities to expose the links of Fai and other such likes in the country especially in Jammu and Kashmir.
Prof Gupta pointed out that a number dubious characters in the country including Jammu and Kashmir have been operating in various guises of being the protagonist of human and civil rights. They have been spreading canards particularly against the security forces fighting the proxy war launched by Pakistan. Their objectives were clear to malign the forces taking upon the enemy. Such elements levelled thousands of false allegations which were found baseless in most of such cases but no action was taken against such persons.
On the contrary, he said that some of such persons have rather been rewarded and awarded, which also needed an independent probe to trace out the infection with in the Government at the Centre and also in the State.
Foreign tours of some of the so called leaders sponsored by them also need to be probed.
Prof Gupta said that there were several persons also who were having direct and indirect links with the set up of Fai in his operations. Such persons were even participating in the anti India activities of Fai’s and other likes. The time has come that such links should be properly looked into besides finding out that how such persons have been benefited by the enemy and who are the black sheep taking advantage to amass properties disproportionate of their apparent sources of income.
Prof Gupta maintained that the problems in Jammu and Kashmir are persisting and getting complicated but for unrealistic policies and diseased mind set with in the corridors of powers which also needed to be rectified.
