NHPC dedicates Water Supply Scheme to Kishtwar town | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR , December 9 : NHPC Limited today dedicated and handed over “Water Supply Scheme” to Kishtwar Town in Jammu and Kashmir which has been constructed by Dulhasti Power Station for fulfilling its commitment towards community welfare The dedication stone was unveiled by Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, MLA Kishtwar at Pump House Shalimar area in presence of Rajeev Hustu, General Manager Dulhasti Power Station, Ajay Mathur Chief Engineer (Civil). On this occasion, M H Malik Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Col. Joydeep Mukherjee, Commander 17 Rashtriya Rifles, Abdul Wahid Zargar, XEN PHE Kishtwar, Ashok Sharma, XEN PDD Kishtwar . Besides, prominent citizens and other dignitaries were also present. After unveiling, the Water Supply Scheme the same was handed over to PHE Department for further operation & Maintenance. In his welcome address Rajeev Hustu General Manager said that in order to augment drinking water supply to Kishtwar town besides keeping in view the aspirations of local people, NHPC has constructed a three Stage Integrated drinking Water Supply Scheme for Kishtwar Town in a record time of 5 months at a cost of `2.943 Crores involving a length of 3600 meters with 150 mm dia GI pipe. All the 03 Stages of pump houses are provided with 02 motors and 02 pumps. One set of motor and pump has been kept standby for ensuring 100% uninterrupted water supply. The source of water is underground seepage water of old HRT of Dulhasti Power Station at Hasti. The system is designed to supply 100 cum/hour water. The scheme for tapping of drinking water involves Construction of 03 No’s water sumps of 50,000 gallon capacity. (One at each stage). The water so collected in to the sump at old HRT would be lifted using Pumps and Motors via IInd & IIIrd Stage Sumps of same capacity up to the Reservoir of State PHE Department at Semna, Kishtwar. Shri Hustu thanked Hon’ble MLA and other dignitaries for their whole hearted co-operation in completion of this prestigious task. Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, MLA Kishtwar appreciated the efforts of NHPC for this noble cause and hoped that all of us should make sincere efforts to mitigate the genuine demand of local people. This can be achieved with bilateral cooperation only. Kichloo also made special mention of welfare activities undertaken by NHPC under its CSR programme. He also thanked Chief Minister and CMD NHPC for taking personal interest in completion of the water supply scheme. With the completion of this scheme, NHPC has fulfilled its commitment made to the District Administration which shall satisfy the drinking water demand of local population to a great extent.
