Bhalla launches restoration work on Bathindi nallah | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 9: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today launched construction work on the 100 meter breached portion of local Nallah at Bathindi damaged due to flash floods during last rainy season. The restoration work would be completed at a cost of Rs 50 lakh. Bhalla asked the Town Drainage Department engineers to construct concrete edge walls of the nallah by raising the height upto 12 feet. He set one month time to complete the work to avoid any inconvenience to the inhabitants. He said that the Government has prepared a comprehensive plan of Rs 110 crore for modernization of Landoi Choi nallah adding that the project includes construction of culverts over the nallah. He said the work would be started under Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) after a survey by a central team. Listing the measures taken by the Government in providing all basic amenities to Sunjwan and Bathindi areas residents, the Minister said the Government has earmarked Rs. 1.6 crore for construction of double-lane Doogian-Jatki road and Rs. 2.37 crore for construction of 4-km long Bathindi-Beermeni via Rati Salarian road. He said the projects are under progress on war-footing and would be completed within a stipulated time frame. For improving the drinking water facilities in Bathindi and Sunjwan areas, the Minister said Government has commissioned 19000 gallon discharge capacity Boria Intake Filtration Plant at a cost of Rs. 7.5 crore at Bahu Fort near Kalika Colony. Earlier, at Ashok Nagar in Satwari, Bhalla announced Rs 7 lakh for upgradation of lanes and drains. He asked the executing agency to use quality material on the development works by fixing paver tiles and complete the project within stipulated time frame.
