| Male baby dies of burns due to lightning; mother serious | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 09: While a six-month-old male baby today died of burns it received due to lightning at Shahadra in Rajouri, its mother survived with critical wounds.
Lighning struck when Shamim Akhtar, wife of Mohammad Sharief, was sitting in the courtyard of their house at Shahadra in Rajouri, with her six-month-old male baby in her lap.
Due to lightning, the woman's dupatta, with which she had covered her baby, caught fire, resulting in serious burns to both of them, police sources said.
While the baby died, the woman survived with serious injuries. She was undergoing treatment at the GMCH here. Her condition was stated to be serious.
