Christmas Cup T20 starts today | | | early times report
JAMMU, Dec 9: Organised by All J&K Christian United Federation, Jammu, the Christmas Cup T20 Cricket Tournament shall begin at Parade ground, here from tomorrow. Twelve corporate teams including the team of host federation shall be participating in the event. The participating teams included Police XI, Simula XI, Ishar XI, Doordarshan XI, Engineers XI, PGDCA XI, Aircel XI, Rural Artisan Welfare Society XI, Rebar-e-Zerat Agriculture XI, Muncipal Commissioner XI, Christan Federation XI and Atman Sports XI. "The main objective of the tournament is to celebrate the festival of Christmas jointly with joy and fervour, through a sporting extravaganza and spread the message of Jesus Christ 'peace and love for all'," said Nicodemus, president, J&K Christian Federation. According to the organisers, the tournament shall be played under ICC rules and on IPL pattern. The participating twelve teams shall be distributed in four pools and the teams shall have the semi-final clashes after the first phase of the fixture within their pools, which shall be played on 'All Play All Pattern' basis, making each team to play at least two matches before the semi-finals. The team toping Pool-A shall clash with the team toping Pool-C and the team toping Pool-B shall lock horns with the Pool-D in the semifinals. Then there shall be a title clash among the winners of the semifinals. For smooth and successful conduct of the tournament, the organisers have framed a panel of jury members, umpires, commentators and scorers. The jury members included RK Bhat, Superintendent of Police, Nicodemus, president federation, Rajesh Gill, vice-president federation, Rajesh Dhar, Sudhir Singh, Harbinder Singh and Rakesh Akram. The umpires panel included Sudhir Singh, Harbinder Singh, JD Singh, Shashi Pal and Yogesh, while RP Singh, Rajesh Dhar and Rakesh Pandita will be the commentators and the score will be maintained by Yogesh Sharma and Sohail. Meanwhile, Gulzar Singh Slathia, IG Armed will be the chief guest on the inaugural ceremony to be held at 10 am tomorrow. |
