CBI gets seven days remand of alleged accused Ashok Singh | UCO Bank Cheating Case | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 10: Special Judge Anticorruption CBI Cases Court J&K Jammu today awarded seven days CBI custody remand of Ashok Singh Manhas allegedly involved in cheating with UCO Bank upto the tune of Rs more than 50 lacs. While granting custodial remand of Seven days, Special Judge Anticorruption CBI Cases Court J&K Jammu B L Bhat directed CBI that accused be got medically examined and all medical facilities be provided to him. Court also directed that accused should be allowed to take undergoing medical treatment of Specialist and to use prescribed medicines and diet provided by his family during the period of remand. Court also ordered that accused to be produced in the Court after the expiry of remand period for further orders. Accused Ashok Singh Manhas resident of Bhori Chungi Jammu arrested today by the CBI while he surrendered before the Court under a case allegedly cheating with the UCO Bank. Senior Public Prosecutor S K Bhat appeared on behalf of CBI. According to the CBI Case that M/S Shiva Over Seas a partnership firm in which Uttam Chand as a partner of 85% Share and Ashok Singh Manhas is holding 15% share and both applied for CC limit to the tune of Rs 50 lacs on March 13, 2008 on the basis of fake/ non-existing property offered as a collateral security towards the bank. During course of investigation a criminal conspiracy, abused of official position and fabrication/forgery of documents both the loan turned NPA on December 18, 2009 which resulted outstanding of Rs 50, 31, 214 causing undue loss to the exchequer. A case u/s 120-B r/w section 420/467/468/471 of RPC and 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) of JK PC Act 2006 was registered. (JNF)
