Army lends helping hand for community development

JAMMU, Dec 10:33 Rashtriya Rifles under the aegis of Tithwal Brigade organized Medical and Veterinary Camp today in village Bhajnowa and Gugrot as part of ‘Vijay Diwas’ celebrations.
This glorious day was befittingly celebrated by the army involving the local populace, as a reciprocation of their unflinching support to the army from time to time. Various activities to include distribution of free medicine, check up of livestock, distribution of wheel chairs and crutches to physically challenged persons and distribution of computer and furniture to Govt Schools were organized for the benefit of the local populations. The event was attended by SDM, Nowshera, Dr Sahid Iqbal, BMO Vijay Sawhney, Dy CEO Jitender Kaur Behl and ASP Dr Koshal Sharma.
Around 650 patients and 1000 animals benefited from the camp. During the camp a total of 10 wheel chairs and 22 crutches were distributed to the needy persons from Kalal, Siyal, Mangla Devi, Deeing, Langar, Dhindeka, Mangiot, Dabbar, Bareri, Potha, Gagrote, Siyal and Dharat villages.
Ashwani Kumar one of the recipients of the wheel chair proudly remarked, “I am indeed indebted to the army for having assisted me by presenting this wheel chair as it will go a long way in improving my mobility, self reliance and a better life style”.
Extending and continuing with the IT awareness and improving the educational facilities in its area of responsibility, army distributed six computers alongwith peripherals to Govt Girls High School, Lamberi. Furniture was presented to Govt High School Langar, Govt Middle School Thati, Dhindeka, Thill Hakiman and Guniya.
Commanding Officer, 33 Rashtriya Riffles in his address, impressed upon the people and the students to be progressive in their approach and cooperate with the army in its efforts towards the development of the society.
