Labour class backbone of country’s economic progress: Reddy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 10: A one day conference was organised by the State Unit of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) at Company Bagh near MA Stadium Jammu today, which was presided overt by the National President of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and Member Parliament Dr G Sanjeeva Reddy. President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee Prof Saifuddin Soz (was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Several senior leaders of PCC, Ministers and Legislators were present on the occasion. The function was organised by INTUC Jammu and Kashmir led by its President Shiv Kumar Sharma. A large number of labour leaders of the organization affiliated to the Indian National Trade Union Congress were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dr G Sanjeeva Reddy described labour class as back bone of the development and economic progress of the country and said that INTUC is committed towards welfare and protect the rights of labour class people of the country. He said that INTUC has its existence in nook and corner of the country and represents all sections of the society and is always committed to protect the rights of the working class who are the back bone of the India’s economic progress and overall development of the country. Reddy authorized Shiv Kumar Sharma who has been re-elected as President INTUC, J&K unit, to constitute new body of the INTUC in the state. Earlier, addressing the gathering PCC Chief Prof. Saifuddin Soz-MP (formers Union Minister) extended whole hearted support to the cause of labour class and assured them that he would put his best efforts for the redressal of genuine demands of working class raised in the conference. He asked party men especially the ministers to take care of the problems of labour class and ensured their support to the employees in government, semi government and private sector in order to further accelerate the economic development and equal participation of labour class in the economic activities. Prof Soz assured to write to the Chief Minister for enhancing the minimum wages in the state to at least Rs 5000 per month although at the national level it is higher. He also appealed to the working class to improve work culture in the state as some people are involved in red tapism. Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Taj Mohiuddin, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla, Former Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma-Senior Vice President PCC, Dharam Pal Sharma-Senior Vice President PCC, Hari Singh-Vice President, Gurmukh Singh-Vice President PCC, Vice Chairperson J&K SC Board Swran Lata, President Mahila Congress Indu Pawar-MLA, Shiv Dev Singh-Ex-MLA, former Manjit Singh, Parkash Sharma-Ex-MLA, Manmohan Singh, Neeraj Gupta also attended the conference.
