International Human Rights Day observed across Jammu region | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 10: International Human Rights Day (IHRD) was observed with zest and zeal in different parts of Jammu region. In a programme to commemorate the day, District Legal Services Authority Udhampur in collaboration with Tehsil Legal Services Committee Udhampur organized a legal awareness camp on National Human Rights Day in Bharatiya College of Education here today. The camp was attended by the students and faculty of the college. The students and other participants were apprised about the importance of human rights B M Gupta Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Pr District& Sessions Judge apprised the participants about the various aspects of human rights and laid stress that human right education is more important and human rights be introduced as a subject in school and colleges. He appealed students to protect, preserve and promote human rights. He also spoke about origin of the human rights day and importance of the UN Declaration of Human Rights. She stress upon the need of human rights education and also for the creation of ‘human rights culture’ in the society to serve humanity. He also spoke about tolerance, mutual understanding and respect to all human beings. She asked youths to come forward for the promotion of rights and expose the violators of human rights. SS Bali Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee and Amit Sharma Munsiff Udhampur informed the children and other participants about the fundamental rights, Legal rights and rights of the children. The programme was also attended by the Principal, students and staff of the college. In another function, Indian Democratic Human Rights Organization (IDHRO), an NGO also celebrated International Human Rights Day at Udhampur. The function was organized under the chairmanship of Sarita Parihar vice president of IDHRO in which members of NGO and locals participated. On the occasion, stress was laid on the human rights education to the students. Senior members Manju Gupta and Parvesh Kumar advised youths and students to contribute for the human rights movement, stick to the human values and to work for human cause. They also spoke about educational rights, sports rights, religious, cultural and environmental rights, with special emphasis on women rights as well. They added that education, peace, democracy and development could be propagated more by promoting human rights culture. Reema Arora and also spoke about tolerance, mutual understanding and respect to all human beings. She asked youths to come forward for the promotion of rights and expose the violators of human rights. On the occasion of IHRD, an awareness programme was today organised by legal service authority of Rajouri in the famous National Public Hr. Sec School (NPHSS). The programme was chaired by Chairman legal service authority and Principle Session Judge AK Koul while a number of bar association members and other officials of court complex took part in it. During the camp, students of this Hr. sec school and present locals were made aware about the importance of this day and about their basic human and judicial rights. They were also told that how can they avail judicial help in any case of their rights violation
