| 3 day workshop on Community Radio Awareness held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu Dec 10: Three day workshop on Community Radio Awareness organized by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India at the University of Jammu concluded here.
Prof Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu was the chief guest in the valedictory function. In his address Prof Varun Sahni, Vice-chancellor, University of Jammu feels itself embedded in the social structures of Jammu and stressed that Jammu University’s work as a public institution is to produce and disseminate knowledge and community radio with help in strengthening the dissemination of knowledge and participation of the community.
Chief Guest VC University of Jammu further said that the power of radio is self evident. He also said that one thing which is wonderful about J&K is that it is the amalgam of languages and it will help community radio to keep the local languages and culture alive.
Prof Jasbir Singh, NSS Programme Coordinator, University of Jammu welcomed the chief guest, experts, resource persons participants invited guests and students and presented a brief report of the three day workshop.
The participants from Punjab, Delhi. Rajhasthan UP and Uttrakhand attended the workshop. In this workshop the participants were informed about the economic cost running the Community Radio Station - recurring expenditure various models project funding from various Govt. and Non- Govt, agencies.
