AJKMSS denies media reports of conducting elections | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 10: All J&K Mahasha Sadar Sabha (AJKMSS) has condemned a news item appeared in section of the media regarding announcement of schedule for conducting election of Mahasha Sadar Sabha by ex-chairman Bansi Lal Bharti. Addressing a press conference here today, AJKMSS President Rattan Chand Krotra clarified that Bansi Lal Bharti was appointed Chairman, Election Board on November 6, 2006 for a period of five years and his term expired on November 7, 2011 and as such he can not exercise powers of Election Chairman. Bharti was neither re-appointed nor given any extension by the competent authority as provided in the constitution of the Sabha, as such his act for announcing elections is null and void. Moreover, the Central Body of All J&K Mahasha Sadar Sabha formed unanimously in a General Ijlas held on December 19, 2010 which was presided over by Mahasha Vir Chand Ex-MLC Chairman, Guru Nabha Dass All J&K Mahasha Sadar Sabha Trust. In the said Ijlas delegates/members belonging to all districts of Jammu province numbering more than two thousand participated. The Sabha so formed is functioning and has not completed yet its tenure of three years as such question of conducting elections does not arise. The President disclosed that the said election schedule notified through press release was challenged in the Court of Law and the Special Judicial Mobile Magistrate Passenger Tax Jammu in an order, dated December 7, 2011, refrained Bharti to conduct elections of the Sabha.
