| NC playing 'dangerous game' to undermine democratic setup in J&K: Mufti | | BJP-Cong in league with NC playing 'power politics' | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 10: Cautioning the national leadership about de-establishing democratic processes and institutions in state former Chief Minister and patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today national parties in league with NC are merely playing power politics at the cost of their own principles by disrupting in the process the very fabric of democracy.
He said while Congress and BJP have found common cause in targeting Jammu and Kashmir the National Conference (NC) is playing a willing partner's role in this dangerous game to undermine democratic institutions in this state.
PDP patron was addressing an impressive public meeting at Digiana area, organized by Avtar Singh Khalsa with the collaboration of Gandhi Nagar zone of PDP. Khalsa along with hundreds of his supporters had joined PDP some days back.
Sayeed said that it was time to heal the wounds inflected on Jammu and Kashmir during the last six decades by denying full democracy and justice to its people. "Instead of strengthening democratic institutions and facilitating flourishing of democracy in the state, the national parties in league with NC are merely playing power politics at the cost of their own principles and party agenda by disrupting in the process the very fabric of democracy in the state," he said while making a reference to statement given by expelled BJP legislators in which they had alleged that the BJP national general secretary had forced party legislators to vote in favour of NC leader Farooq Abdullah for his re-election to the Rajya Sabha in February 2009.
PDP patron said that the latest revelation made by the legislators expelled from the BJP only confirmed the general impression that the resolution of problem of Jammu and Kashmir and providing a clean representative and responsible government was not there objective. He attacked national parties for adopting double standard on many issues. "In other parts of the countries such parties allowed wish of people to prevail but in Jammu and Kashmir such national parties are in league with NC to erode and undermine democratic institutions", he regretted and added that dignity of the higher democratic institution like Assembly was undermined as no serious and detailed discussion was allowed in the House. "Except PDP, no other party is interested in holding any serious discussion in the Assembly", he said.
"It is really unfortunate on the part of the national parties that no serious effort has been made to strengthen democratic institutions in Jammu and Kashmir", he said and pointed out that adequate powers have yet to be delegated to Panchayats while as government has been adopting delay tactics in holding civic bodies elections.
Asserting that mis-goverance was real cause of increasing alienation among masses, he reminded that Central Cabinet Committee, during its visit to state after 2010 unrest, had pointed out "trust deficit and governance deficit" as the many reasons for prevailing anarchy in the state where Congress was also a ruling partner. He said that during the last three years this regime had eroded all institutions through its gimmicks and deceit tactics.
He further said that inability of the NC leadership to address aspirations of the people has once again plunged this State into unprecedented crises where alienation has been mounting among all sections of the society.
While throwing light on the Self-Rule document of PDP, he said that the roadmap prepared by his party was the only viable and most acceptable solution of the Kashmir problem.
PDP Patron said that Power is not his aim and his desire is to make Jammu and Kashmir as Island of Peace with the support and cooperation of the people of this region.
Former Minister Rangil Singh, T S Bajwa, Balbir Singh, Ved Mahajan, Daman Bhasin, Shanti Devi, Peerzada Mansor, MLA, Falail Singh, Hussain Ali Wafa, Bharat Bhushan, R K Bali, Rajinder Singh Manhas, Prof Shohaib Inayat Malik, Surjeet Kour, Deepinder Kour, Capt Anil Gour, Nadeem Khan, Rafiq Malik, Mohinder Singh Kotwal, Bhushan Dogra, Ashok Jogi, Bharat Mahajan, Rashpal Billowaria, Daljeet Singh Dicky, Susheela Jamwal and others also addressed the meeting. |
