MR XI enters semis of Jagti Youth Cup

JAMMU, Dec 11: Defeating the hosts Sai Cricket Club easily by 5 wickets, the formidable side of Medical Representatives (MR) XI sailed into the semifinals of the ongoing Ist Jagti Youth Cup Cricket Tournament at Jagti, being organised by Sai Cricket Club in the memory of PN Raina, near here. New Star Cricket Club and Sai Cricket Club have also qualified for the semifinals in this tournament.
Earlier, Sai Cricket Club scored 128 for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Surinder top scored with 16-ball 24 runs including 4 fours, while Puran Raina and Sunil contributed 20 and 19 runs respectively, hitting three fours each. For MR XI, Anil and Handoo took 2 wickets each, while Sunil, Ajay and Sanjay claimed one wicket apiece.
MR XI, in reply, rode on a superb knock of 44 runs by Vinod Bhat and chased the target in 18.5 overs. Vinod hit seven boundaries and one six in his fabulous knock. Vikas and Romy also contributed 20 and 16 runs to the total respectively. For SCC, Sonu took 3 wickets, Sunil 2 and Rocky one. Vinod Bhat was adjudged man of the match for his superb knock.
In another match of the day, New Star Cricket Club (NSCC) defeated Bantalab Cricket Club (BCC) by 2 wickets in a low scoring game.
Batting first, Bantalab CC was bundled out for a paltry total of 95 runs in 17.4 overs, with King Ji and Sheru 13 runs each, while Ashwani (11) being the main contributors. For NSCC, Sonu scalped 3 wickets, while Rahul and Sunny took 2 each and Rohit and Chander one wicket each.
NSCC, in reply sailed on a splendid knock of 41 runs by Chander chased the target in 16.2 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 2 wickets. Chander smashed 7 crispy boundaries in his knock. Rahul and Vishal also chipped in with 12 runs each. For Bantalab, Sheru took 3 wickets, while Sudhir bagged 2 and Chand Ji claimed one wicket. Chander of NSCC was declared man of the match for his superb batting display.
