| BJP exposes alleged Rs 50 lakh scam in Pahari Hostel | | Party demands FIR, immediate arrest of Warden | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI, Dec 11:Exposing Rs 50 lakh scam by RTI application, Bharatiya Janta Party has demanded lodging First Information Report (FIR) against the Warden of Pahari Hostel Rajouri for alleged bungling of government funds.
BJP has also demanded handing over of the case to Crime Branch for in-depth probe.
Issuing press statement, BJP State Secretary Vibodh Gupta has said that they had filed an RTI in the office of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri demanding copy of the findings of Enquiry Committee constituted vide order no SQ/1605-09 dated 28-11-2011 on the mismanagement and bungling of Funds in Pahari Hostel Rajouri.
He said that the Report submitted by the enquiry officer Farooq Shah is enough to lodge FIR against warden.
“Let an FIR be lodged and Minister’s brother in law arrested for making huge loss to the state exchequer”, BJP demanded.
Gupta said that some big revelations have been made in the report which is collectively a Rs 50 lakh scam. He said that major loss has been made to the state exchequer by misusing the position by Warden.
He also alleged that some heavyweight politicians resorted to shielding the Warden due to reasons best known to them.
Quoting Report, Gupta said that Hawai Chapels have been billed @ 99 per pair which actually costs Rs 65. It added that bills have been drawn for Cherry Blossom Boot Polish while the inmates have never been issued polished shoes ever. Report said that bills have been withdrawn for one quintal sugar each month while inmates are always been given salty tea and no Lipton tea is ever served to the inmates which has even been admitted by the son of warden Imran Khan in his statement to the Enquiry Officer who happens to be Casual Labour of the Hostel.
As per the report, Gupta said that Breeze bath soaps, wheel washing soaps, toothpastes etc are being purchased from nearby Army canteen but the vouchers drawn have been got from the market and bears no serial numbers. He added that all this is being done for the last 3-4 years.
Regarding serving food to the inmates, Gupta said that the report has mentioned a big scam. Gupta said that the report added that bills have been drawn in respect of food items revealing 100 percent attendance of inmates for all the days while the attendance remain in the range of 50-80 on different days. It added that 30 Kg of milk is billed for daily while only 15 kg milk is being purchased. The report said that as a test check the enquiry officer has checked the bills of January and September 2011 and found that bills have been drawn for 100 numbers of eggs, 200 numbers of buns and 100 numbers of ‘Samosas’ and ‘Kachori’ per day for all the days while the statements recorded in the report reveals that no ‘Samosa’ or ‘Kichori’ was ever served to the inmates.
BJP leader said that there is also a big revelation about the stock position in the report. He said that stock register has not been maintained properly and there is no certificate on its first page certifying the numbers of pages. It added that leaf at page number 25 & 26 have been torn and there are no entries regarding the issuance and balance of items.
The report also mentioned that Warden has proceeded on leave and the charge has been given to a Casual Labour and his son Imran Khan who according to report is de-facto manager of the Hostel.
About the purchase of bed sheets, report said that 189 bed sheets which cost @ Rs 100 per sheet were purchased by the market on escalated cost of Rs 200 and Rs 225 as on bills. The bedding material purchased has neither been issued to the inmates not were found in the store.
Saying that the report is enough to lodge FIR against Warden, he added that the officer must be arrested immediately and the case should be handed over to Crime Branch for in-dept probe.
Gupta has also accused Vice Chairman of Pahari Board, Mushtaq Bukhari for not taking any action against the Warden. He said that the Hostel is under crises and Bukhari has never paid his visit to the area.
BJP has said that there are various other scams in Rajouri and BJP is going to launch RTI campaign to expose all these scandals.
