| GDC Akhnoor organizes seminar on Human Rights and values | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
AkhnoorDec 11: Govt Degree College Akhnoor celebrated International Human Rights Day in the college premises here on Saturday.
The Red Cross Unit of College organized a Seminar on Human Rights and Human Values to mark the 63rdanniversary of adoption of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by United Nations on December 10, 1948.
About 10 students were involved in reading 30 different articles of UDHR grouped in a foundation block, four columns and one pediment to their peers.
One student categorically read out last three articles 28-30 proclaiming duties of individual towards society. The information was also disseminated among participants.
The speakers underlined the essence of human rights and duties education and awareness among common masses especially youth and students for lasting peace and equitable development in the world today.
Principal of College, Kaushal Smotra, who was Chief Guest on the occasion, in her address, underlined the need of protection and promotion of human rights without forgetting the duties. She said human rights and human duties must go parallel to achieve the developmental goals.
Living the life with the simple principle of “live and let live” can lead to peaceful world free of human rights violations, she added.
Pooja Chaudhary, B.Sc 2nd year student conducted proceedings of programme. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Kuldeep Raj Sharma, Yashpaul Sharma and Sanjay Kotw al.
