Seminar on use of safe drinking water for healthy life organized

Samba, Dec 11: With a view to sensitize and mobilize rural masses especially the youth community about the use of clean and safe drinking water, the Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India in close coordination and collaboration with district administration and various State Govt. departments including Education, Rural Development, Public Health Engineering (PHE), and ICDS organized a day long awareness camp on National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) in Parmandal block of Samba district the other day.
This awareness camp was a part of the two months long intensive Public Awareness Campaign on National Rural Drinking Water Programme throughout the state.
The special awareness programme was organized at Govt. Girls High School, Gurha Slathian.
On the occasion an inter school seminar was organized in which four educational Institutions of the vicinity participated with full enthusiasm and zeal.
Despite Anganwari Workers, Supervisors, Sarpanches, Panches, PHE employees, employees from rural development department and local populace from all walks of life participated actively and witnessed the programme with keen interest.
The main aims and objectives of organizing this programme was to aware the rural masses at the grass root level especially the younger generation about various aspects and provisions of National Rural Drinking Water Programme which is meant for providing clean and safe drinking water to each and every rural household across the length and breadth of the nation.
The function was presided over by Sushma Slathia, Headmaster of the host school, Subash Chander, Assistant Engineer from the implementing department (PHE) was the chief guest whereas Isher Singh Slathia, Sarpanch Panchayat Gurha Slathian upper was the guest of honour on the occasion.
In all 10 participants and intellectuals including school children and Anganwari workers besides the experts drawn from the implementing department delivered key note addresses on the topic.
