Diabetes and multi-speciality camp held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 11:Samajik Vikas Sansthan, a social Charitable Organization for Welfare of Society, organized a free Diabetes-cum-multi-speciality medical camp in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School, Phase-II, Muthi, Jammu. A team of several specialist doctors led by Dr Jitendra Singh, a renowned Diabetologist, diagnosed the patients during the camp. The team of doctors included among others Dr Vidya Rattan, MD General Physician, Dr Sandeep Bhat, MS Surgery, Dr Farhana, MD Gynaecologist and Dr Sandeep Dhar Physiotherapist. A large number of people availed of facility of free tests for Sugar, Hb, TLC, DLC etc were conducted and free Medicines were distributed among the needy patients. Dr Jitendra Singh, in his brief address, referred to rising prevalence of diabetes among displaced Kashmiri Pandit community in particular and the masses in general. He said the factors responsible for this rising trend included mental and physical stress, change in life style and change in food habits from original ethnic dietary tradition. Earlier, Vinod Koul, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, inaugurated the Camp. He appreciated the efforts made by the Sansthan for such social causes The Chairman, Samajik Vikas Sansthan, Kuldeep Raina assured that such camps will be regularly organized in future in view of the response of the public.
