JAMMU, Dec 11: Three police officers including district SP Reasi have been attached following DySP Headquarters Reasi allegedly molested lady SP in full public view here at Reasi on Saturday.
The shocking incident took place the other day when patron National Conference Dr Farooq Abdullah and other senior leaders of the party had gathered to address a rally.
Annoyed by the disgraceful incident, NC led collation government issued orders for immediate removal and attachment of 3 senior police officers from district Reasi.
They have been accordingly attached with the office of IGP Jammu. Those who have been removed and attached are SP, Reasi Keshav Ram Chaurasia, Additional SP Reasi Anita Sharma and DySP HQ Reasi, Mohammad Aslam Choudhary.
The gross indiscipline of Dy SP Mohammad Aslam Choudhary and failure of command and control by the SP and Additional SP over their subordinate has prompted Government to take the action against all of them.
The IGP, Jammu has been further directed to inquire into the matter.
Meanwhile, Atul Goyal has been posted as SP Reasi, Mohammad Sharief Chouhan as Additional SP and Ajitha Begum as ASP HQ, Reasi, with the direction to take the charge immediate effect. However, Atul Goyal who has replaced the Keshav is stated to be the lone police officer of IPS cadre who has record of absent IPS officer.If the directory of IPS officers of Jammu and Kashmir cadre is searched Atul Kumar is seen the most absentee officer.As per directory (S no 29. Atul Kumar Goel RR-04 M. A Echo Sgr (absent from 1/7/09) 07/2008.
The incident occurred at about 2:20 pm when Dr Farooq Abdullah, was addressing a gathering at Parade Ground, Reasi.
Sources said while Farooq was counting the achievements of NC, the public gathered there was paying attention towards two police officers (Mohammad Aslam and Anita Sharma) who were locked in a verbal duel thus creating an unruly scene at the venue.
Police sources giving information said that DySP Headquarters Reasi Mohmmad Aslam Choudhary had molested the Additional SP Reasi Anita Sharma, which was strongly objected by her.
The sources further said that Dy SP HQ Choudhary also used obscene remarks against lady SP
As the two officers were caught in a bitter fight, they were not only noticed by people sitting close to them but the top leadership of NC on the dais also came to know of the quarrel.
Sources with in police said that after the rally was over, lady SP reported the matter to her seniors who tried to hush up the case but it was top brass of NC who took the matter seriously and rebuked district police and administration for making the rally of NC as a mockery.Sources further said that NC Patron phoned the senior police officers and rebuked them.
Succumbing to political pressure and on the complaint of lady SP, a meeting of senior police officers was held in which decision was taken for exemplary action so that in future such incidents are not repeated which brought bad repute to JK police.
Accordingly a case under section 189,294,509 RPC was registered against DySP Headquarter Reasi Mohmmad Aslam Choudhary.
The case was registered at Police Station Reasi on the complaint of SP Anita Sharma in which the lady officer alleged that she was obstructed by his subordinate in performing her duty besides molesting her and using filthy language against her in full public view.
