Manohar conducts extensive tour of Tehsil Billawar

KATHUA, Dec 12: To listen to the problems of people at their door steps and to mitigate the same on the spot, Minister for Cooperatives Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma conducted extensive tour of Tehsil Billawar of Kathua District.
MLC Subash Gupta, DDC Kathua Zahida Parveen Khan, AC (Revenue) Kathua Vikas Gupta, also accompanied the minister during the tour. On arrival at his home Panchayat Durang to attend public meeting, the people accorded the minister a warm welcome with the beats of drums .
Speakers hailed the minister for his efforts to uplift the socio- economic condition of the people not only of his native village but of the entire area. Durang people also submitted a charter of demands to the minister. People from Durang, Dungara, Kishenpur, Dingi Symbli, Maalti , Rampur and other adjoining villages made their representations through Panchs and Sarpanchs and apprised the minister about their problem and demands.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, reiterated that the Government has launched a number of schemes to meet the developmental aspirations of the people. He said that education and health are the core areas and government is giving special attention to upgrade these sectors. He said that various schools of the area are being upgraded under RMSA to enable students to get education at their doorsteps.
Speaking on the occasion, MLC Subash Gupta said that the coalition Government, headed by Mr Omar Abdullah was committed for all round and equal development of the state. He said that government is trying its best to mitigate the problems of the people. The MLC also announced Rs 1.50 lakh under his constituency development fund for the construction of the boundary wall of the Higher Secondary School, Durang.
DDC Kathua Zahida Parveen Khan, while speaking on the occasion, appealed the people to come forward to take benefit of NREGA scheme which not only provide work but also ensure development of the area. Earlier at Tehsil headquarter Billawar, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma convened a public meeting and listened to the problems of the people. He passed on spot instructions to the officers of the concerned departments to mitigate the same on first priority.
Dr Sharma also distributed appointment letters among thirty youths under Rehbar-e- Taleem. Identity cards of Panchs and Sarpanchs of different Panchayats were also distributed on the occasion. Cheques under National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) of Social Welfare Department were also distributed among 11 beneficiaries. Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Tehsildar Billawar, Deputy Chief Education Officer and a large number of people were also present during the function.
