SKUAST -J organizes farmers training programme | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Rajouri, Dec 12: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajouri under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu and under the auspices of Directorate of Extension Education, SKUAST-J organized one day farmers training programme on “Cultivation Of Tree Fodders In Winters” at Thandikassi. A total of thirty one farmers participated in the above said training programmes. Speaking on the occasion, Punit Choudhary Subject Matter Specialist Agroforestry of KVK, Rajouri briefed the farmers about the multivariate benefits of cultivating fodders tree species like Grewia optiva, Celtis australis, Morus alba, Leuceana leucocephela, Robinia pseudocasia etc. on the bund and boundaries of their field for enhancing overall fodder production during the winters in the district. Moreover Choudhary also stressed upon the use of tree fodder in combination with the routine fodder for meeting the scarcity of green fodder during the lean period in the district. Rakesh Sharma Subject Matter Specialist Agriculture Extension made the farmers aware of the various activities of the KVK and stressed that farmers can drive economic benefits from cultivation of fodder trees. A P Singh Subject Matter Specialist Agronomy guided the farmers to grow forage crops along with tree fodders on their fields to get rid of fodder deficiency during the winters. In addition to that, the team of scientists of KVK Rajouri, including Puneet Choudhary, Rakesh Sharma and A. P. Singh provided on spot consultancy to the farmers of the area regarding various aspects relating to crop production, fodder grasses and trees. The programme concluded with vote of thanks presented by Amit Mahajan (Programme Assistant Trainings) of KVK Rajouri.
