CEO SASB denies VHP’s statement on Amarnath Yatra

JAMMU, DEC 12: R K Goyal, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, while referring to a statement of VHP appearing in a section of the press said it is unfair to level unfounded and baseless allegations that the Governor refused to meet VHP leaders particularly when the representatives of VHP and BABA Yatri Niyas had been in discussions with him over past weeks.
He said that Dr Surinder Jain, National Secretary, VHP accompanied by Dr Rama Kant Dubey, VHP State President had met him on Dec 9 and presented their views about the schedule and duration of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2012.
He said that they had nearly 2-hour long meeting with him, adding that it is unfair to level unfounded and baseless allegations that the Governor refused to meet them, particularly when the representatives of VHP and BABA Yatri Niyas had been in discussions with him over past weeks.
Goyal said that it is pertinent to mention that Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board at its meeting held in July this year under the chairmanship of N N Vohra, Governor, who is also Chairman of the Board, had set up a Sub-Committee chaired by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, with Swami Giananandji of Vrindavan, Y V Sharma, President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, R L Bharti, IFS (Retd) and former Member, J&K Public Service Commission, Prem Gupta, IPS (Retd), former IGP, Dr Chandra Mouli Raina, Assistant Professor, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Jammu and he himself in capacity of Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, as its Members. This Committee was to undertake all interested parties and advise the Board regarding duration and schedule of Shri Amarnathji Yatra from 2012 onwards. He said that the representatives of the BABA Yatri Niyas had put forth their views before the Sub-Committee at Jammu in September this year. He said that the Sub-Committee would be finalizing its recommendations in due course.
The CEO said that it needs to be appreciated by one and all that such baseless statements create confusion in the minds of general public.
