Police arrests ‘Tainted’ ZEO who sets official records ablaze | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Dec 12: Police claimed to have arrested one ‘tainted’ Zonal Education Officer for allegedly setting ablaze the official records to disrupt the on going enquiry by vigilance organization into the alleged scholarship bungling in Khumriyal zone of district Kupwara. According to sources in police accused identified namely as Zonal Education Officer, Khumiriyal Mohammad Akbar Mir son of Abdul Gani resident of Misrat Behak Machil at present Puthashai, Lolab and Senior Assistant Mohammad Amin Lone son of Mohammad Sarwar of Kuligam, Lolab, in connivance with other employees of Zonal Education Office Khumiriyal allegedly set ablaze the official records pertaining to distribution of scholarships among Gujjar / Bakerwal and Pahadi students. The police in a statement claimed that the record was destroyed to hush-up the irregularities committed by the Zonal Education Officer, Khumiriyal in the distribution of scholarships among Gujjar / Bakerwal and Pahadi students. It is pertinent to mention here that Vigilance Organisation, Kashmir, was enquiring into the issue with regard to irregularities committed by ZEO Khumiriyal and was asked to present the record before the organization for perusal, however, the same according to police were destroyed by setting the records on fire in order to cover up the irregularities pertaining to the Scholarships. A case against FIR No. 403/2011, U/S 435, 409, 120 B- RPC stands registered in police station Kupwara.
