Bail granted to ASI who was caught red-handed by Vigilance deptt

Jammu, Dec 13: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu today granted bail to Ranjeet Singh ASI then posted at P/S Domana who was caught red-handed by the Vigilance department on December 9.
Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Pawan Dev Kotwal after hearing CPO appearing for the VOJ and perused the record/ police report and objections filed by CPO granted bail to Ranjeet Singh ASI then posted at P/S Domana who demanded was caught red-handed by the VOJ on December 9.
According to case report one Mandeep Sharma has lodged a written complaint P/S VOJ alleging therein that the elder brother of complainant lodged a false complaint against the complainant at P/S Domana and complaint was called at Police Station and arrested by Ranjeet Singh ASI then posted at P/S Domana. Ranjeet Singh ASI not only retained the Jama Talashi Rs 1500 but also demanded Rs 2000 as bribe to release him from the police custody. A case in this regard stands registered against FIR 28/2011 u/s 5(2) PC Act r/w section 161 RPC.
Court while granting bail to ASI, observed that applicant-accused in custody for last five days and nothing is required to recover from him. Investigation of the case appears to almost complete and therefore withhold of bail to accused is not warranted. With these observations Court granted bail to the accused ASI and directed to release the accused from the custody if he furnishes bail and personal bond to the tune of Rs 25000 each with certain conditions
