| No route permits, fitness certificates for Auto Rickshaws without meters | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 13No route permit or fitness certificate will be issued to Auto Rickshaws unless they are fitted with functional fare meters dully sealed by the Weights and Measures Department as provided under Motor Vehicle Rules.
As per the circular issued by the Transport Commissioner, Regional Transport Officers (RTOs), Kashmir and Jammu, Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTOs) and the enforcement agencies in the field have been asked to launch a special drive within their jurisdictions for adherence of the circular issued by the government.
This step has been taken following the complaints that Auto Rickshaws are not fitted with functional meters and are over charging from the commuters.
