HC asks deptts to submit suggestions for checking road accidents | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 13:The House Committee (HC) constituted to look into the causes of frequent road accidents taking place on Batote-Kishtawar road today asked the revenue, transport, police, traffic, BECON, roads and buildings authorities to submit a detailed report including the necessary suggestions mandatory for checking the frequency of road accidents taking place on these highways within a week’s time. These instructions were given in a meeting held here under the chairmanship of MLA Kulgam M. Y. Tarigami. The Committee members Mohammad Sharief Niaz, G M Saroori and Naresh Kumar Gupta asked the concerned departments to work in close coordination so that the report submit would be comprehensive in all respects which would be then tabled in the House for formulation of a policy to check the frequency of road accidents which has resulted in tremendous loss of human lives in the recent future. The Committee also directed the Divisional Commissioners to identify the land immediately required by the Transport department for use of setting up of driving institute to train the prospective drivers as well as impart modern techniques to drivers on scientific basis. Chairman of the Committee stressed on following safety measures like checking the menace of over loading, non use of mobile, driving after intake of liquor and over speeding. He said that the traffic police should strictly ensure that above mentioned measures are controlled which would go a long way in helping to check the frequency of road accidents.
