| Shamsher Singh condemns lathi charge on RETs | | | JAMMU | JAN 11 BJP State General Secretary Shamsher Singh Manhas, condemned the unprovoked brutal lathi charge and use of teargas on the Rehbar-e-Talim teachers who were peacefully exercising their constitutional right to protest at Jammu and asked the government to immediately concede their demands which are genuine, just and reasonable. He said the agitating teachers’ demands were not extravagant or unfair form this congress-led coalition government. They were demanding enhancement of their meager salary and regularization of those who had completed five years of service. He said it is very unfortunate that these highly qualified teachers are paid even less than the wages of a laborer. Reacting on the reports that there are around ten thousand posts of teachers lying vacant in government schools, Manhas said that it speaks of the unconcern and callous attitude and outlook of this government towards these unfortunate R-e-T teachers and unemployed youth who are languishing in penury and frustration. Expressing solidarity with the agitating R-e-T teachers of Jammu region, he advised the government to open its eyes and forthwith concede their demands.
