Bhalla asks collectors quickly dispose off land compensation cases | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 13: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has asked the collectors of Jammu division to gear up their efforts in quickly disposing the land compensation cases of acquired land of the people across the region so that the ongoing projects executed under various sectors especially construction of roads and its widening by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) would be completed within prescribed time frame. This was stated by the Minister while addressing a meeting of Revenue Officers to review the progress of land acquisition cases in Jammu division, here today. Financial Commissioner Revenue Mr. Pramod Jain, Principal Secretary R&B Mr. K B Aggarwal, Commissioner/Secretary Revenue Mr. K A Khan, Project Director NHAI Mr. Veerendra Singh besides all Collectors of Jammu division attended the meeting. Various issues related to land acquisition under National Highway/Railways, and land acquisition cases in which the draft and final award have been issued besides scheme wise details, amount of compensation received and disposed off were also discussed in the meeting. Bhalla urged upon the officers to give first priority in solving land compensation cases of those whose land was acquired for construction of various projects particularly 4-lane project executed by NHAI from Jammu to Banihal. He asked them to provide full cooperation to NHAI for completing the ongoing projects well in time. The Minister stressed for expeditious assessment of actual amount of acquired land and other details so that the compensation is given to the deserving populace. He asked the officers to show results in speedily disposing off pending cases of the people, adding that there is no constraint of funds. He said aim of the Government is to solve revenue related problems of the people, by adopting simplify methods. Bhalla said that due to road widening there is need to construct a foot bridge at Malik Market, Narwal for convenience of passers. He directed NHAI to prepare DPRs at the earliest for the purpose and ensure early execution of this foot bridge. The meeting was apprised that NHAI has given Rs. 80 lakh to Forest Department for plantation of ornamental plants including irrigation facilities from Narwal to Vijaypur. Later, the Minister also attended annual function of St. Joseph’s Convent School, Nagrota where students of the institution presented a colourful cultural programme which was highly applauded by the audience.
