Education Deptt orders probe into attachment of teachers in Mankote block | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 13: Taking serious exception to the stylenof functioning of the Zonal education Officer, Mankote in Poonch district, Education Department has constituted a Commission of Inquiry in the violation of standing rules by the ZEO regarding transfers and attachments. According to Departmental sources the Director Education after coming to know that some schools remain closed in Zone Mankote has grilled the Chief Education Officer Poonch and directed him to constitute a commission of Inquiry in the matter so that the action under rules can be taken against the defaulters. The sources said following the directives of director school Education, the Chief Education Officer has constituted a Departmental Commission of inquiry into the matter which has been asked to furnish the report within fortnight. The Department swung into action after the Dy CEO Mendhar recently recommended constitution of Commission of Inquiry to probe the reasons behind the absconding of teachers resulting in closure of various schools in the area. The DyCEO during his tour to various schools in the area has found two primary schools in Zone Mnkote which has two teachers each on its roll locked last week during afternoon. The people of the area complained that the schools are locked for days together which has affected the academic career of the students. The DyCEO also found some teachers absent in two middle schools and he received complaints from locals that these teachers were absconding for months together. But after enquiry from the staff he was intimated that the teachers have been attached by ZEO Mankote Zone in his office. Even at Kasturba Gandhi Memorial School in Menhdar the orphan children were not provided mid-day meal for over last three months despite receiving the ration from the Government. The DyCEO ordered a probe into the matter. In a letter to Chief Education Office Mendhar and Director School Education Jammu the Dy CEO has urged them to constitute a commission of Inquiry into the mater and punish the guilty. It may be recalled that the people of Mendhar in general and Mankote Zone in particular are up in arms against the Department for its failure in maintaining punctuality of the staff in the schools. The people while questioning the style of functioning of the ZEO Mankote said that on one hand the Government has banned the transfer and attachment of teaching staff during mid-session on the other the ZEO Mankote was ordering attachment of the teachers at the cost of career of students. |
