ADM Kishtwar summons former SDPO | Un-authorized release of HM militant | | Asif Iqbal Naik JAMMU, Dec 13: In a significant development, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Kishtwar summoned former SDPO for `un-authorized' release of a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant, Aijaz Ahmad @ Saleem Javed of Marwah, Kishtwar in 2008. The said militant is reportedly involved in the murder of a 12th class student Nasir Wani. The summons against Liaquat Chowdhary was issued after the IO, SHO, SDPO Kishtwar solicited affidavits about his involvement in the release of the said militant. The matter came to the lime light in April 2011, when ADM Kishtwar during his visit to Marwah was approached by the family members of the deceased Nasir Wani. After receiving the complaint, ADM Kishtwar initiated the inquiry @Saleem Javed and during his enquiry several police officers including the then SSP Kishtwar Dr Haseeb Mughal appeared in the court of ADM Kishtwar and subsequently the name of former SDPO Kishtwar Liaquat Chowdhary surfaced into the unauthorized release of the militant. The enquiry officer issued two summons for Chowdhury's appearance. However, he ignored the summons. The erring SDPO is currently posted in Police Academy Udhampur. Meanwhile, Early Times published a detailed report about the un-authorised release. The family members also approached the honorable High Court and sought a direction for the ADM to submit his enquiry report. The direction was accordingly passed. The ADM, it is believed, has almost completed his enquiry. It has been reliably learnt that the said militant was on police remand when released without following the procedure. The militant, it may be mentioned, was arrested by army on September 14, 2008 along with One AK riffle, 30 AK rounds and one magazine. After his arrest, the accused was produced by police before first class magistrate, Marwah On September 17, 2008, who remanded him to police custody for 10 days. The said militant was re-arrested from his residence when Early Times published a report on August 23, 2011 after remaining at large for three years. |
