Continuing its protest, BAJ organized car, scooter rally

Jammu, Dec 13: Bar Association of Jammu (BAJ) today to intensifying its agitation against the move of the Govt. in taking away the powers of registration from Judicial Officers and vesting them with the Executive Officers, organized car/scooter/motorcycle rally.
On the twentieth day of the protest the BAJ organized a scooter car rally which passed through the main roads and bazaars of Jammu city on foot accompanied by a large cavalcade of scooters, motorcycles and cars. The representatives of the respective Bazaar Associations joined the rally and assured their full support to the ongoing agitation. The rally when reached Purani Mandi, the traders association also supported the cause of the lawyers.
While addressing the ralliests Adv Vikram Sharma, General Secretary, Bar Association Jammu cautioned the Govt against going ahead with its ill-conceived move of thrusting corruption upon the people of the State with an aim to regularize illegal encroachments by influential people in the power corridors.
The rally of lawyers was joined by Y V Sharma, President Jammu Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Yash Pal Gupta, President All India Retailers Federation, Surinder Mahajan, President Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association and other prominent citizens.
President Chamber of Commerce YV Sharma extending an unstinted support to the cause of general public clarified that the issue of registration concerns every single member of the public and there should be no doubt in the mind of the Govt that people will fight against this move tooth and nail.
Yash Pal Gupta, President Retailers Federation, congratulated the Bar Association for fighting for the protection of rights of general public. The representatives of trade and social organizations with one voice asked the govt. to read the writing on the wall and realize the fact that people of the State have decided to take this fight till the govt. shuns the move of vesting registration powers with the revenue officers/executive.
Adv B S Slathia, President BAJ ion his address warned the govt. that the people of the State will not tolerate any interference in the powers of judicial officers to check illegal encroachments by scrutinizing the documents submitted for registrations. Slathia further explained that the public is already aware of the large chunks of land under illegal occupation by the influential and powerful people and the present move is only to facilitate the regularization of these illegal encroachments. He lambasted the govt for the mis-governance and acting in derogation to the aspirations of the general public
