| Panther’s party asks Speaker to use powers | | Call Mir, Matoo to house: Singh | | SRINAGAR, JULY, 31 : Member of the Legislative Assembly, and the Panther’s party leader, Balwant Singh on Monday asked the speaker of the legislative assembly, Tara Chand to summon, Raman Matoo and GA Mir to the house to answer the questions related to their constituencies. Both the MLAs were arrested by the CBI in connection, with the sex abuse case and are presently in judicial custody. However, speaker, told Singh that matter is sub-judicious and he (speaker) cannot intervene. However, Singh, insisted and reminded the speaker that in the history of Jammu and Kashmir Legislature, once Bheem Singh, was called to Legislature assembly, by a speaker of the legislative assembly to answer the questions related to his constituency, when he had been booked under PSA. However, senior National Conference leader, Ali Mohammad Sagar intervened and said, “As it is, reputation of this house has been ruined. It is no point discussing those people, who have been responsible for ruining the name of this house.” Later Balwant Singh told reporters, “ I had raised the issue of calling these members to the house for answering the questions related to their constituency.” He added, “ speaker said that he cannot intervene, as matter is sub-judicious. My personal belief is that until nothing is proven against both the arrested members of the house, they should not be considered as guilty.”
