Army to hold two-day Human Rights Seminar in Jammu | | | early times report Jammu, Dec 14 : The Army is going to organise a two-day seminar on Human Rights in Akhnoor area of this winter capital from December 20. Discussions and lectures on Human Rights will be done by the top brass of Army, Police and Judiciary officials at Sangha Auditorium, Cross Swords Division, Akhnoor, about 28-km from here.
The opening session of the seminar on December 20 would begin with the welcome address to be presented by the GoC Cross Swords Div followed by key notes.
Addresses on various topics like Perspectives of HR by former Chief Justice of India and Chairman National Human Rights Commission Justice K G Balakrishnan, Changing concepts of HR by Justice B C Patel and Legal imperatives by S M Sahai, IGP Kashmir Zone, J and K Police will be delivered in the first session of the day.
In the second session of the seminar, addresses on Perceptions and Expectations of the People in a Disturbed Area by HR Activist and Lawyer Vrinda Grover, Politics of HR-impact and implications by Col (Retd) S K Sakhuja, former PRO DPR, Ministry of Defence and HR Violations the Truth and the Myth by Justice Syed Bashir-ud-Din, former Chairman SHRC, J and K will be delivered.
However, on the second day of the seminar, subjects like Armed Forces and Upholding of HR by B C Patel, member NHRC, Emerging Dynamics of International Humanitarian Law and CT Operations by Brig (Retd) MB Anand, Challenges of upholding HR Ground Realities by Col AK Mohla, CO 48 RR/CIF, CT Operations and HR Co-terminus Goals by Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma and HR and Media Potential and Performance by Nitin Gokhale, Sr Editor NDTV will remain the highlights.
