| DIGs suspension evokes strong condemnation | | | JAMMU | JAN 11
The suspension of Niaz Mahmood, DIG Jammu-Kathua Range has evoked strong condemnation from all quarters of the society. Immediate revocation of the suspension order along with through probe into the matter was also demanded.
In a meeting of activists of Kissan Vikas Morcha under the Chairmanship of Amit Manhas, concerns were expressed over the suspension of Niaz Mehboob by the state Govt. Manhas urged upon the government to immediately revoke the suspension order of the DIG, as it would send wrong signal in the entire police department.
Meanwhile, Dr. Gafoor Ahmed, State Secretary Bahujan Samaj Party (BSF) also registered protest against the suspension of Niaz Mahmood. In a statement issued, Gafoor said Mahmood’s honesty has been widely recognized through his service period. he has been falsely implicated on the charges of corruption by some influential he added. He said threatened to launch an agitation in case Mahmood’s suspension would not be revoked. Rural journalists Association also flayed the decision of State Government and demanded a thorough probe into the matter. Kuldeep Sharma, Gen Secretary expressed deep shock over the sudden suspension of Mahmood on corruption charges.
