Bhalla inaugurates painting exhibition at Kala Kendra | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 14: An artist mostly is driven by emotions that he considers vital for his creative expression. For a visual artist, the stimulus is mainly the images that surround him and it is his prerogative to re-interpret the selected images and represent the same with a touch of transformation and novelty. This was stated by the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla after inaugurating 3-day painting exhibition of Sushma Sahni at Kala Kendra, here this evening. Bhalla greeted Sahni and said in Sahni’s paintings there is sheer love and memory of healthy, ideality homeland which remains sole inspiration and motivation for her paintings. He said her semi-abstract paintings in water colors and acrylic, using different techniques including drip, splashes, application thick impasto, bestows a poetic feel to the subjects which are mainly landscapes, sometimes with endless horizon. Minister said the solo show of her paintings: Outpouring emotions, which opened at the Kala Kendra is a visual treat for the paining lovers. Notwithstanding her being hearing and speech impaired, her longing for Kashmir, finds expression mostly as a kind of celebration of the picturesque that many a times rises to sublimity. Bhalla appealed the younger generation to participate in painting activities in a big way besides pursuing academic education. He asked the teachers to provide quality as well as moral education to the students so that they become a good artist of the country. Additional Secretary, Art, Culture and Languages, Savita Bakshi, painting lovers, eminent personalities and students were present on the occasion.
