Sarpanch's house raided on the direction of Revenue Minister
Patwari attached for alleged corruption, tehsildhar directed for probe

Jammu, Dec 14: A patwari has been attached to DC Jammu office and probe against him has been initiated against him by the order of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu Sanjeev Verma following the complaint alleging that said Patwari was allegedly demanding money from the people visiting for their documentations regarding their immovable properties falling under his jurisdiction, sources in revenue department said.
According to sources that complainants complained that the patwari demanded money to convert the nature of their land situated in Greater Kailash locality. The matter came to light when while scrutinizing the documents DC Jammu found that that a piece of land complainants wanted to sell was not a water body. Taking stern action DC ordered attachment of patwari and directed tehsildhar Jammu to hold a probe against him.
"Some persons approached DC Jammu Sanjeev Verma and alleged that Patwari Mohd Latif was harassing them for the last two months on the pretext that the land they wanted to sell is in fact a khad, water body barring them to sell off their immovable property, sources said adding that the DC Jammu ordered concerned tehsildar to probe the complaints pouring from the area falling under the jurisdiction of the accused.
Meanwhile, a raid was conducted by revenue officials at the residence of Sarpanch of village Rathiyan,Udhampur, following the complaint that the sarpanch had illegally possessed revenue records termed as 'acquaintance roll' and was charging money from people for entry of the revenue record.
"The acquaintance roll is in fact a confidential document which should have been in possession of ADC Udhampur, sources in revenue department said adding that a raid was conducted on the direction of Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla.
However, during the raid, it was ascertained that some relief cheques were distributed among people in the said panchyat of sarpanch few days ago and for authentication of the relief beneficiaries the said revenue documents was taken alongwith by the revenue officials.
Raman Bhalla when contacted confirming the reports said that no one whether a person in high chair or a fourth class employees involved in corruption would be spared. He added that concerned DCs have been directed to take stern action against officials involved in corrupt practice. Furthermore referring to Udhampur Incident, Revenue Minister said DC Udhampur was directed to see the matter by deputing a team to counter check the complaint against the Sarpanch Poorn Chand but complaints were found baseless.
