BAK protests transfer of registration powers to revenue deptt

EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, Dec 15:To lodge their protest against the transferring of land registration
process from judiciary to revenue department, the Bar Association
Kathua (BAK) held a strong demonstration in front of District Court
complex here today.
Shouting slogans against the State Government, the protesting lawyers
burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
On the occasion, the Advocate Arvind Gupta and Advocate Dushyant Gupta
said that their agitation has entered 20th day and the working of
court remain suspended till date.
They lambasted anti- advocate and anti-people move of Govt to transfer
the land registration power from judiciary officers to revenue
officers is totally a part of nefarious design of the state Government
to encourage and protect the land-mafias of the state.
Meanwhile, the SHO Kathua, who intervened in the protest and tried to
snatch the effigy of Omar Abdullah to save it from burning, was
criticised by the Bar Association
The Bar Association strongly condemned the interference of police in
the protest.
