JAMMU, Dec 15: Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister, Raman Bhalla has taken strong exception to fresh encroachments taking place at Jawala Ji Shrine Khrew in Pulwama district of Kashmir Valley.
In a communique to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Bhalla has urged him to take stern action against the defaulters by demolishing all structures which have been raised on the land of this historical shrine.
The Minister also urged the Divisional Commissioner to depute a tehsildar on site who should be entrusted with the responsibility and powers of demolition of structures on the land of this ancient Hindu shrine. He also stressed on making notification of the land.
The Revenue Minister has also sought an explanation from the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, for his failure in taking the action against the land grabbers and restoration of the land of this ancient shrine despite his written orders few days back.
Bhalla was apprised by some of the members of Jawala Ji Sansthan regarding the fresh encroachments made at the shrine land despite his instructions to the DC Pulwama. Bhalla assured the delegation that tough action will be taken under law against the land grabbers. He has also urged the Divisional Commissioner to also notify the land of all Hindu religious places in Valley so that it can be saved from the clutches of land grabbers and encroachers.
Mr Bhalla has said that protection of Hindu land in Valley is essential to enrich the composite culture in valley and pave way for the return of the Pandits to their ancestral land.
The delegation which called on Bhalla was led by MK Raina president Jawala Ji Samiti. It has expressed concern over the encroachment of the land of the shrine by some unscrupulous elements and demanded its immediate restoration to shrine by dismantling the structures raised over it.
He said the land has over 300 kanals of land and the land mafia is eying it for years together. The Jawala Ji is the presiding deity of almost half of Kashmiri Pandit population and it is one of the revered shrines of Valley.
The Sansthan has also made an appeal to all Kashmiri Pandit organizations for intervention including ASKPC, AIKPC, Panun Kashmir, JKVM, KPC and Pandit Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust to save this shrine from land mafia.
