| Pak to move forward on conflict resolution: Kasuri | | | ISLAMABAD, JAN 12 On the eve of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee's visit, Pakistan has said it looked forward to holding discussions "without posturing" with the Indian leader to move forward on conflict resolution and set benchmarks for the fourth round of the Composite Dialogue. "We will improve the atmosphere and hold purposeful discussions on Kashmir, Siachen and Sir Creek and set high benchmarks for the fourth round of Composite Dialogue process," Foreign Minister Khurshid M Kasuri said ahead of tomorrow's parleys. "It is not just the review of the third round of the Composite Dialogue process we will be doing. Hopefully we will set some targets and parameters for the fourth round. There is greater progress in each of the three rounds, admittedly not on conflict resolution but on confidence building," he said. Mukherjee is making a two-day visit to Pakistan primarily to extend an invitation to President Pervez Musharraf for the 14the SAARC Summit to be held in New Delhi in April. During his stay, he will hold talks with Kasuri on all bilateral issues. Asked whether Pakistan would give any formal proposals to elaborate on Musharraf's ideas of demilitarisation, self- rule and joint management to resolve the Kashmir issue, Kasuri said, "We will do everything without posturing and without stealing a march over India. We learnt that it does not help. We will do whatever to take the process forward. Use the back channel." |
