EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, DECEMBER 16-Ethics Committee (EC) of Legislative Council has decided to recommend for making the personal assets of the members of upper house public.
The committee which met here today under the chairmanship of Mr Vijay Bakaya discussed the issue of putting the details of the assets of the members of Upper House in the Public domain.
The Committee decided that the suggestions of all the members of the House will be sought on the subject after which necessary provisions would be framed for the same.
The Committee Members Mr Ravinder Kumar Sharma, S. Dharam Bir Singh Oberia, Mr Subash Chander Gupta, Mr Mohammad Amin Bhat and Mr Ali Mohammad Bhat gave their suggestions to make the functioning of the Committee more effective.
Discussing the issue of maintaining full quorum during the meetings of various House Committees, the members suggested that chairman of each committee would be asked to fix advance date for the meetings of their respective committees to avoid the postponement at the eleventh hour. The meeting was of the opinion that it should be made clear to all the participants that the schedule of the meeting would not be changed in any case. The Committee also decided to do away with the practice of inviting Special Invitees to the committee meetings.
The Chairman of the Committee directed the Secretary Legislative Council Mr Mohammad Ashraf Mir to issue a circular to all the Legislators directing them that the resolutions, private members bills, questions submitted by them must focus only on the public issues.
