Jammu Dec, 16: Akhil Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha a National Organization of Gujjars, held an extraordinary meeting at Jammu today, under the chairmanship of Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal, State President of the organization.
The participants expressed their grave concern about the plight of Gujjar Community in the State.
The Speakers in the meeting opined that despite the ear marking of funds by the Centre the State Administrative Machinery is showing lackadaisical attitude towards implementing the schemes for the benefit of the Gujjar Community.
Citing the example of half hearted attitude of the administrative machinery in implementing the various schemes for development of Gujjar Community, it was stated that a recent RTI in this connection has exposed this deliberate attempt to thwart the development of Gujjar Community.
Giving details, the State President Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal revealed that as per information received from D.C. Kupwara shows only 50% of funds earmarked for various Gujjar Welfare Scheme were utilized in last Financial Year while as the rest half was left unutilized.
The Speakers also expressed their concern about reported misappropriation of Funds under Cow Dairy Unit Scheme which seems evident from not mentioning the name of the beneficiaries under the scheme, in response to particular RTI.
The Speaker requested Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene in the matter to ensure liberal implementation of beneficial scheme for Gujjars of the State who are living pathetically, despite of all over development in the State & Country.
