BAJ continues its ongoing agitation against on ‘transfer of
Registration’ decision

Jammu, Dec 16: The Bar Association of Jammu (BAJ) continued its
ongoing agitation against the Govt move of taking away powers of
Registration of documents from Judicial Officers and vesting them with
the Revenue/Executive Officers which started since Nov 26.
Continuing with its campaign against the transfer of powers of
registration, Bar Association today sent different delegations of its
member lawyers to different districts and Tehsils across the State. To
continue its campaign against the said government decision, a group of
lawyers under the president ship of B S Slathia President BAJ, today
called on Sham Lal Sharma, Minister of Health, Floriculture and
Horticulture and apprised the Minister that the issue taken up by the
Bar Association concerns every single member of the public and that
the Bar Association is determined in preventing the Govt from forcing
its ill-conceived plan upon the common masses. The Minister gave a
patient hearing to the Bar delegation.
Meanwhile a delegation of lawyers from Jammu Bar Association
comprising H C Jhalmeria, Hafiez-ur-Rehman and Rajinder Singh Jamwal
today reached Srinagar to muster support from the Kashmir Bar to the
Bandh call and held detailed deliberations with the Kashmir Bar
represented by Mian Abdul Qayoom, President, Bashir Ahmed Dar
Vice-President, G N Shaheen Gen-Secretary and Mohd Ashraf Joint
Secretaryof the Kashmir Bar. These representatives agreed in
principle with the cause taken up by Bar Association Jammu and assured
that that they will also decide the mode of protest in their meeting
being convened shortly.
The support is consistently pouring in to the agitation spearheaded by
Bar Association Jammu and Bandh call given by it for 20th December and
a communication from V K Katal Gen-Secretary of All J&K NGOs
Federation was received today. Due to the continue strikes of the BAJ,
the works in the High Court of Jammu and District Court Complex
Suffered.
The Bar Associations, which are on strike since 26th Nov. 2011 to
lodge its protest against the ill-advised and anti-people move of the
govt. has already given a Bandh call for 20th December from a joint
platform with all the trade, transport and social organisations.
The Bar Associations of Udhampur, Reasi, Katra, Akhnoor, Bishnah,
Samba, Kathua, Hiranagar, Rajouri, Poonch, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar,
R.S.Pura and all other Districts and Mufassil Bars are also observing
complete strike in protest against the reported move of the govt.
