Dr. Vaid stresses for transparency, quick delivery | | | early times report JAMMU, DECEMBER 16: As an effort to acquaint its officers and officials, associated with the procurement wings of the department, Jammu and Kashmir Police organized a workshop at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. The workshop was organized in collaboration with National Informatics Centre (NIC) and was attended by a large number of police officers and officials. While inaugurating the one day workshop, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Headquarters, Dr. S. P. Vaid dwelt on the need for shifting from manual tendering process of procurement to electronic form in view of technical advancements and to ensure transparency in the process. He said that Information Technology (IT) has converted the world in a global village and it is the need of time to adopt more user friendly approach by optimum use of technology. The manual tendering process needs to be replaced to ensure transparency and quick delivery mechanism, said Dr.Vaid. The ADGP stressed upon the participants of the workshop to seize the opportunity and avail the facilities of modern technology. This would save the precious time and ensure transparency in tender publication, technical evaluation and award of contracts. The users would also be benefited by the system, he added. The Technical Director, National; Informatics Centre, (NIC), Mr. J. S. Modi along with his expert team apprised the participating officers and officials about various aspects of e-procurement during the workshop which include registration of government officials and vendors, tender creation, bid submission, tender opening, financial bid opening, financial evaluation and award of contract. Among others, the day-long workshop was attended by Inspector General of Police, (Headquarters), Mr. Arun Kumar Choudhary, Dy: Inspector General of Police (Administration), Mr. Alok Puri, AIsGP, (PHQ) Mr. Aftab Ahmed Kakroo and Mr. Shabir Ahmed, Executive Engineer, PCD (PHQ), Mr. Nazir Din Khawaja, Chief Accounts Officer (PHQ), Mr. U. S. Bali and other police officers.
