JKDF demands permanent jobs for SPOs, holds dharna | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 16: Raising a voice of concern for Special Police Officers (SPOs), the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) today held a dharna in front of Press Club, Jammu in support of the demands of SPOs. Hundreds of JKDF workers led by their chairman Anil Gupta sat on the dharna. Addressing the gathering, Anil Gupta said that the SPOs have given their life and blood to fight terrorism in the state. They have played a major role in bringing back normalcy in remote parts of the state. These people have proven their mettle in fight against terrorism in more than one ways. Many a times they have faced the brutal brunt of terrorism by sacrificing their family members. Gupta said that JKDF demands that the SPOs should be regularized in the state police. For long they have worked selflessly in hostile conditions as the front line against militancy defeating the malicious designs of the enemy. A large number of SPOs have given their youth for the service to their nation and are working as SPOs for ten to fifteen years but still they are paid very miserly, he said adding that Government has rehabilitated the persons involved in militancy and other anti national activities but turned deaf towards the genuine demands of the SPOs. The prominent persons who sat on dharna were Prof Chaman Lal Gupta (MLA Jammu West), Jagdish Sapolia (MLA Basohli), Bharat Bhushan (MLA Domana) and Master Lal Chand (MLA Bani).
