early times report
JAMMU, Dec 16: All Jammu and Kashmir Home Guards Welfare Association (AJKHGWA) has warned to start agitation across the state against the discriminatory attitude of the government towards the personnel. The guards organised a Dharna near Press Club and demanded that their genuine rights should be given to them, denied despite assurances by the successive administrations.

Earlier a large number of home guards representing all the districts led by Inder Mohinder Singh Tar Singh state president Janta Dal (United) tried to meet Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather to apprise him of the demands and press upon to settle the same. “Finance Minister for out of station so we have submitted our memorandum in his office”, Tar said.

Speaking on the occasion, president of home guards association Kamla Sharma said that they are totally dejected and cannot tolerate the sufferings anymore and have decided to intensify their agitation. “It is unfortunate that despite assurances by the successive state government, no step has been taken to address our demands. We demand a compensation package of Rs.20 lakh as settlement money”, she said. She said that іt’s quite disturbing thаt thе Home Guards іn Jammu аnd Kashmir аrе treated even lower thаn thаt οf thе labourers. “State іѕ paying a sum οf Rs.45 per day tο thе Guards whісh іѕ upsetting аnd disturbing аѕ millions οf rupees meant fοr thе guards аrе being disbursed аmοng police officials themselves”, she said.
