People forget KC as Jethmalani goes ‘missing’ | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 16: BJP leader and head of the Kashmir Committee (KC), Ram Jethmalani, seems to have taken his hands off Kashmir. The noted lawyer who wanted to open new channels of dialogue to work out solutions is virtually `missing' for the past seven months. Apolitical activist has plans to pay a handsome consideration for information about his whereabouts. He headed a delegation to Pakistan in April to bridge the gap between Islamabad and New Delhi. But in the process he has lost contact with the Kashmiris whom he wanted to meet to bring them `close to Delhi'. Madhu Keshwar, who is convener of the Kashmir Committee even criticised New Delhi's nominated interlocutors. "They couldn't achieve any breakthrough on Kashmir. Interlocutors couldn't meet separatists, but we will meet everybody and won't allow ego to come in between," she said. Keshwar's statement came true last fortnight when the Chief Interlocutor urged former Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayed to exercise his influence to make their report public. If the Committee too has nothing to boast about, the Committee too has failed to make any headway. But as the Interlocutors manage to stay in news occasionally, the Committee seems to have gone into hiding. The Kashmir Committee was constituted way back in 2002 to reach out to the separatists. The chairman Ram Jethmalani held several rounds of talks with the separatists. However, nothing came out. |
