Mansar PP incharge attached for allegations of corruption | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 17: Faced with serious allegations of corruption, Mansar police post incharge, SI Anil Sharma was today attached to SDPO's office at Vijaypur. The SI had on December 10 seized a truck, that had come from Srinagar, after 10 kilograms of charas was recovered from it. The truck was seized by him at Mansar police barrier on a tip-off. Police sources said the truck was allegedly released by the police post incharge after two days, or so of its seizure. The truck was again intercepted by a joint team of excise department, police and forest officials. Since the team had a definite input that the truck contained charas, they subjected it to checking, the sources added. However, when no charas was recovered, its driver was taken into custody and put to sustained questioning during which he allegedly told his interrogators that the contraband had been seized by Mansar police. He was alleged to have bribed police to secure his release, the sources added. Soon after the matter came to the notice of senior police officers in Jammu, they ordered a probe into the incident and the attachment of SI. SDPO, Vijaypur, DSP Ashok Singh had been asked to enquire into the alleged incident. Meanwhile, the role of senior police officers in Samba had also come under scanner, sources said.
