BAJ agitation enters 24th day

Jammu, December-17 (JNF):- The Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) strike today entered 24th day. The strike is being observed in protest against transfer of registration powers to the executive.
The Bar Association has called for Jammu BAndh on December 20 to press their demand. , Massive support is pouring from all the cross-sections of the society extending their support to the Bandh call with the public at large realizing that the issue taken up by the Bar Association is in public interest as with the transfer of powers of registration of documents to revenue officers/executive, it is the common man which shall bear the brunt and be the worst sufferer.
Continuing with its campaign against the transfer of powers of registration, Bar Association delegations today fanned out to different districts and Tehsils to make people aware of the sinister move of the Govt in vesting registration powers with revenue officers. A team of lawyers headed by Sh. S.S.Lehar, Sr. Advocate and other advocates met the members of District Bar Association Reasi, Mahore, Katra and Udhampur Bar Association and held detailed discussions with them over the future strategy. Sh. Lehar stressed the members to take upon themselves responsibility to create awareness amongst the public about the nefarious design of the govt in helping the land mafia and regularising illegal land encroachments.
Another Bar delegation headed by Sh. Usman Salaria, Vice-President, Bar Association Jammu and & Other advocates met the respective Bar Associations of Rajouri, Surankote, Poonch and other mufassil bars to chalk out a joint strategy to oppose the move of the govt more effectively. The delegation held detailed discussions with the representatives of the various organisations who extended their support to the cause taken up by the Bar Association Jammu in the interests of general public.
Similarly, a bar delegation from Jammu headed by Sh. B.S.Slathia and comprising of & Other advocates visited the Districts of Kathua and Samba where the delegation received tremendous support from the representatives of various trade and social organisations who have vowed to fight against the move of the govt till the last. The delegation was received by the bar representatives and members in the respective districts.
Further to awaken the general masses about the hidden agenda of the govt in bringing about the transfer of registration powers from Judicial Officers to revenue/executive officers, a group of Young Lawyers from Bar Association Jammu comprising Sh. Rohan Nanda, and others took a round of the entire Jammu city and highlighted the manner in which the govt is playing in the hands of land-mafia to regularise illegal encroachments made by powerful people by planning their registrations done through the revenue/executive officers. The delegation evoked an unprecedented response with every member of the public voluntarily supporting the cause and vowing to make 20th Dec Bandh Call a huge success to shake the govt from its slumber.
Meanwhile the support is consistently pouring in to the agitation spearheaded by Bar Association Jammu and Bandh call given by it for 20th December. Sh. Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, in its press release today extended their support to the cause taken up by legal fraternity and assured that they will at their own level create public awareness against the malafide and ill-conceived move of the govt which is anti-people and opposed to public interest.
The Bar Associations of Udhampur, Reasi, Katra, Akhnoor, Bishnah, Samba, Kathua, Hiranagar, Rajouri, Poonch, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, R.S.Pura and all other Districts and Mufassil Bars are also observing complete strike in protest against the move of the govt. JNF
